Time and date: Tuesday 4 November, 15:00-16:15 (Room 13, Summit venue)
Organizers: Government of the Netherlands (lead); UN-Nutrition and Government of Brazil (co-organizers)
From 4-6 November 2025, at the Qatar National Convention Centre in Doha will take place the Second World Summit on Social Development (WSSD), convened by the United Nations General Assembly, through its resolutions 78/261 and 78/318. The summit aims to recommit to the Copenhagen Declaration on Social Development and the Programme of Action, and give momentum to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.
In the context of the Summit, UN-Nutrition is joining forces with partners to organize a Solutions Session to bring nutrition more prominently into the WSSD discussions and deliberations. The session, organized by the Government of the Netherlands (lead), in collaboration with the Government of Brazil, will take place on Tuesday, 4 November 2025, from 15:00 to 16:15 (Room 13, Qatar National Convention Centre, Doha).
It will explore practical solutions and innovative models to accelerate the integration of nutrition into social and economic development agendas. It will highlight country experiences that demonstrate how multisectoral collaboration across health, agriculture, education, social protection, and environment can drive equitable progress on food security, nutrition, and the broader Sustainable Development Goals – especially with a view to the UN Decade of Action on Nutrition.
The dialogue will bring together government leaders, UN agencies, civil society, and youth representatives to discuss how nutrition can serve as an effective entry point for advancing inclusive and sustainable social development. It will provide a platform to identify entry points for coordination, share lessons learned, and inspire whole-of-government and whole-of-society approaches.
Further information will be made available here closer to the session.
PLEASE NOTE:
To enter the Summit venue, all participants, organizers, moderators, speakers and organizing staff must be duly registered and in possession of a Summit badge.
