Organizer: Nutrition Working Group of the United Nations Interagency Task Force on Noncommunicable Diseases, Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), World Health Organization (WHO), UN-Nutrition

Given the multisectoral nature of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and unhealthy diets, a coordinated UN system response is critical. The session on Joint Action to Tackle Diet-Related NCDs showcased collaborative country-level efforts involving IDLO, UNDP, UN Nutrition, WHO and the UN NCD Task Force. Key initiatives highlighted include the WHO Technical Package to Stop Obesity, the Joint Global Regulatory and Fiscal Capacity Building Programme, and the development of Nutrition Investment Cases. The UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food concluded the session by providing insights on tackling diet-related NCDs through a human rights-based approach.
