At the UNFSS STM+4 in Addis Ababa, the Coalition of Action on Healthy Diets from Sustainable Food Systems for Children and All (HDSFS) used the opportunity to reaffirm the centrality of healthy diets to food systems transformation. It also advanced the dialogue on how nutrition and climate agendas can be more effectively aligned. Through its support to the Government of Madagascar led side event, Breaking Silos and Fueling Change: Aligning Nutrition and Climate for Food System Transformation, the Coalition showcased concrete country experiences on integrating nutrition into climate action, from school meals and food fortification to agroecological practices and embedding nutrition into NDCs, while also surfacing the systemic barriers and power dynamics that shape progress. Beyond the side event, the Coalition engaged in inter-coalition exchanges to identify shared challenges and pathways for joint action, deepened collaboration with governments and partners through bilateral meetings, and used its exhibition booth to spotlight country member and partner findings, projects and innovations. Collectively, these engagements underscored that food systems transformation cannot be siloed, and it cannot succeed without placing healthy diets and nutrition at the center, both as a driver of change and as a core outcome of more sustainable, resilient food systems, supported by coherent policies, stronger financing, and global partnerships. The Stocktaking Moment served as both a space for reflection and an opportunity to strengthen commitment to advancing the HDSFS Coalition’s vision of healthier, more sustainable diets for all.
