Co-hosted by Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) and World Health Organization (WHO), Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO), Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement, this breakout session of the ATACH Global Meeting will introduce the Initiative on Climate Action and Nutrition (I-CAN) with a focus on nutrition, climate change and health research.

Session Objectives:

  1. Share insights into the pathways connecting climate change and nutrition including through agri-food, health, water and social protection systems 
  2. Review current research on climate change and nutrition, examining existing evidence, methodologies, and key findings. Identify gaps in knowledge and areas requiring further investigation 
  3. Understand needs of policymakers in understanding and using available evidence to inform national level policy integrating nutrition and climate 
  4. Promote knowledge exchange and collaboration among researchers, policymakers, practitioners, and other stakeholders working in the fields of climate change, nutrition, and gender
